It was a great frostbiting day on
the eve of the great blizzard of '01 (at least that's what they're calling it
today). Winds were in the 10-15 range from the northeast. The direction was
as steady as it's been all season and Gil used mark number 2 as the weather
mark for all five races. They started with a port triangle, then a WL, then
another port triangle, then a WL twice, and finally a WL followed by a romp
around Cornelius Island. Commodore Chuck was the class of the fleet with three
wins and a win for the day. Peter got the day started with two horrendous starts
which put him back in the pack and shattered his hopes once again. Chuck got
a breakthrough win and Rollie showed flashes of his old brilliance. Bob Hicks
had a consistent day except for the first race when he did not hear his number
called when he was over at the start.
