The season came to an end on a dreary day for most people. It rained the entire
time we were sailing. But on the brighter side it was good sailing and it wasn't
really that cold. The wind was steady out of the southeast with few gusts or
wind direction changes. If not great sailing, it was great racing. Gil and the
Michelle had to call two generals before the fleet got down to business, while
Mark just shook his head in the crash boat. The pin was favored ever so slightly
and the better sailors fought over it as if they were match racing for the Americas
Cup. Tim seemed to find the magic of getting off the line with alacrity and
won two races and the daily prize. Chuck mastered the race going up the channel
and found wind coming out that put him in another zip code by the time he got
to the finish. Bob Hicks and Peter Greeme both got into foul trouble, with Bob
putting together a neat sequence of last followed by first, followed by eighth.
Well, we all have the summer to think about how we can improve in 2002.
